There are two main categories of therapy boots for horses; ice boots and magnetic boots. In recent years a few alternatives to traditional magnetic therapy have also emerged.

Ice boots for horses would usually only be used immediately post exercise or acute injury. They help to manage inflammation which is important for healing, recovery and comfort. Generally icing is not used long term as it is not favourable to lower to tissue temperature for long periods. Ice therapy boots would usually only be applied for the first twenty minutes, but this could be repeated where heat is persistent.

Magnetic boots for horses come in many shapes and forms. If you are looking for an economical way to help support mobility and lower limb recovery then a magnetic band, aka pastern wrap, is a great option.
